 | The Troy Rec Summer Lunch Buddies Program is a lunch and reading program for elementary students. It is held for 6 weeks in June and July, from 12 Noon until 1:00 PM, Monday through Thursday, in the Rec's downstairs basketball gym. This year's dates are June 9 to July 17. The nutritious lunches are provided daily by the Troy Lunch Club. The program is free.
Each child in the Summer Lunch Buddies program is assigned to an adult or older teen who will have lunch with him and afterwards will read with him for 20 minutes. There is a group enrichment activity following the reading. The directors are Janet Larck, Annette Stine, and Susan Thokey.
Children must be pre-registered and will receive applications at school sometime in May, or they may obtain an application form at the Rec. The children are selected on a first-come-first-served basis. For further information, please call 440-9805.
